H.O.T, History on Tap, 2004

This artist’s book, edition of 100, is made of a single sheet of paper. It is color laser printed on both sides, cut, and folded in a way that it opens three times to reveal different segments of a time line showcasing the rich history through images and facts preserved in the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Archives (MVHS), Youngstown, Ohio. The entire edition was donated and was given as a memento book to the attendees of the first annual History on Tap (H.O.T.): a collaborative event organized by the MVHS’s Young Leaders Advisory Board and Youngstown State University’s McDonough Museum of Art. This event draws a younger dynamic to the area’s cultural institutions. The artist intent is a playful, informative structure, encouraging conversation, while remaining economical to produce. It is inspired by structures created by both Hedi Kyle and Pamela Spitzmueller. 15.5 x 6 centimeters. Created 2004.
