Deborah Evetts, Fellow of Designer Bookbinders, is an internationally recognized designer bookbinder trained at Brighton College of Art under John Corderoy, and at the Central School of Arts and Crafts under William Matthews. After working for a short time for Roger Powell and Peter Waters, she accepted the position of part-time lecturer in Bookbinding at Epsom and Ewell School of Art. She also taught an evening class at Holloway Women’s Prison, a day course at Guildford College of Art, and at Brighton College of Art. After coming to the United States in 1967, she worked with Carolyn Horton and in 1969 was appointed Head of Rare Book Conservation at the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York. A proponent of the classical English School of bookbinding, her work has been exhibited worldwide and is held in numerous collections, both institutional and private.
