Born in 1911, Harold Tribolet apprenticed himself at age sixteen to Alfred de Sauty in the Department of Extra Binding at the Lakeside Press in Chicago, assuming the position of manager when de Sauty retired to England in 1935. His work has encompassed both restoration and fine binding. As was often the case at the Lakeside Press, Poësie was the result of teamwork, having been sewn by E. Dvorak, forwarded by E.R. Lhotka, finished by J.J. Kotil, and designed and produced under the direction of Harold Tribolet. Harold Tribolet was a member of the Guild for over 30 years and retired to Larkspur, CO to devote his time to woodworking.
