Don Guyot, Colophon Book Arts Supply, (3046 Hogum Bay Rd, NE, Olympia, WA, <ph>360-459-2940, <fax>360--459-2945) is seeking the help of conservators, bookbinders and book artists alike to provide him with information which will be used to develop a specification for linen (flax) bookbinding thread. Once done, the specification will be used to order threads from the well-known manufacturer in Northern Ireland who made the material imported 10 years ago under the Crawford label.

Apply for the Carolyn Horton Fund Award
This award, administered by the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (FAIC), is offered annually to support continuing education or training for professional book and paper conservators. You must be a member of AICs Book and Paper Group in order to qualify. The amount of the award will probably be about $500.00. Funds may be applied to att endance at professional meetings, seminars, workshops, and other educational events. Deadline for applications is February 1, 1996. To obtain an application, write to:
