The slate of presenters for the 17th Standards of Excellence in Hand Bookbinding to be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan October 24 - 25, 1997 is now set:
Pamela Spitzmueller demonstrating the Long Stitch Binding that she has been researching for several years.
Nancy Jacobi, of the Japanese Paper Place in Toronto, will share her great knowledge of Japanese papers and show how to recognize good quality in order to choose the right paper for the repair.
Don Etherington will demonstrate different repair on paper, leather, cloth....all with Japanese paper. Don and Nancy will give a joint presentation.
Dag-Ernst Petersen, conservator from Wolfenbenth, Germany will demonstrate Wooden Board Repair.
Donald Glaister, designer bookbinder, will demonstrate Gold Tooling.
The banquet speaker will be Dr. Jan van der Marck, former curator at the Detroit Museum of Art, and collector of private press books and livres d'artistes.
Shannon Zachary is the coordinator. She and members of the Midwest Chapter are planning pre- and post-seminar activities, as well as organizing the Seminar. The Crown Plaza Hotel in Ann Arbor will be the site of the Seminar.
