Women's Studio Workshop

Artists' Fellowships: Women's Studio Workshop is accepting applications for its 1997 Fellowship Programs in intaglio, water-based screenprinting, photography, papermaking and letterpress. Fellowship awards are designed to provide artists with concentrated work time to explore new ideas in a dynamic and cooperative community of women artists in a rural environment. Fellows have unlimited access to the studios and may work in two to eight week sessions, from September through June. The cost of fellowship recipients is $200 per week plus materials, about one third of the actual cost, and includes on-site housing. Internships: Women's Studio Workshop is looking for three interns for its Summer Arts Institute Session. Interns spend half of their summer taking workshops at no charge and the rest of the time working for WSW. Interns are provided with free housing and access to the printmaking, photography, letterpress and papermaking studios after hours. Applicants should send a resume, 10-20 slides, three current letters of recommendation, a letter of interest and an SASE for the return of slides to the address above. Applications must be postmarked by March 15.


Kress Foundation Internships In Paper Conservation

The New York Botanical Garden Library offers two six-month internships in paper conservation, the first beginning on October 1, 1997; the second on April 1, 1998. These positions, the Kress Foundation Internships in Paper Conservation, will provide experience working with the Library's Botanical Art and Illustration Collection. Working under the supervision of the Garden's Conservation Librarian, the intern will assist with a conservation survey of the collection, stabilization, preservation, and rehousing procedures, carry out an independent research project, and prepare a final report on the project.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a recognized program in paper, art, or book conservation. These six-month, full-time positions (35 hours per week) offer a stipend of $447.00 per week. There are no fringe benefits, but there will be an allowance of $250.00 to be used during the period of the internship for appropriate outside professional development. On-site interview preferred.
