• Vol. Two, No. 5, May 1997 deals mostly with collecting: travel books, children's books, cartoons, etc. Sidney Berger writes "Book Format: Part I: Broadsides, Folios and Quartos; what does size have to do with it?" There is an article on the Amsterdam Museum of the Book.
• Vol. Two, No. 6, June 1997 contains Part II of Sidney Berger's "Book Format: Octavo, Duodecimo and Sextodecimo", and articles on Sunday book fairs and shows in London.
• Vol. Two, No. 7, July 1997 contains an article "Give Me Your Creased, Your Torn, Your Dusty: A Guide to Basic Page Cleaning and Repair" by John K. Waters, a freelance writer and editor in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Waters quotes Jerilyn Davis, Nelly Balloffet, Jake Salik of TALAS, paper conservator Karen Zukor and Walter Henry of Stanford in this rapid overview of do-it-yourself book repair. He lists AIC and GBW for information and gives a list of suppliers
• Vol. Two, No. 8, August 1997 features "Bound for Discovery", an article on the binding group AIRneuf formed recently in Paris. Photographs of work by all nine binders illustrates the article. "Heavenly Books Earthly Treasures" is by Charlotte Franklin on the Bridwell Library and its collection.
• Vol. Two, No. 9, September 1997 features Andrew Hoyem (on the cover) and in "Arion Press: A Legacy of Literary Artistry". Also included is Nicholas Basbanes writing on the new facsimile edition of the Pforzheimer catalogue of English Literature, 1475-1700 published jointly by Oak Knoll Press and the Heritage Book Shop in Los Angeles.

• Vol. 16, No. 2, June 1997 contains a ten-page "Annotated Bibliography on Leather Dressing, written by Kristen St. John, conservator student in Preservation & Conservation Studies, GSLIS, University of Texas Austin. It covers 29 articles written between 1905 and 1995 and includes three recipes for leather dressings: New York Public Library (from Tapia 1960); NYPL (Carolyn Horton's #6 formula), and the British Museum dressing (from Tapia, 1960).

• Vol. XX, No. 4, June 1997 includes a review of Marianne Tidcombe's "Women Bookbinders, 1880-1920" and a review by Artemis Bonadea, GBW member in Anchorage, Alaska, of "Metal Techniques for Books", by jeweler-turned-bookbinder Liane Kaneshige. The 35-page booklet is available through the author at 1203 Hallen Dr., Arcata, CA 95521. Approx. $15.
• Vol. XX, No. 5, July 1997 covers, in depth, Richard Horton's presentation at the last GBW Standards Seminar in Pasadena on "Opening Up Photo Album Possibilities".
• Vol. XX, No. 6, September 1997 contains an article, with basic steps for the procedure, on Tacketing as a method of board attachment, originally developed by Anthony Cains at Trinity College, Dublin, and later written up by Robert Espinosa and Pamela Barrios, at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. The method can be used on hollow - and tight-backed books - not for case bound, or, not for books with grooves. (We will reprint the instructions in a later issue). There is also a full review of the U.S. Govt. Printing Office Training Series, published in 1950, revised in 1962, "Theory and Practice of Bookbinding".

• No. 98, Spring 1997: Philip Smith reports on the DB exhibition held last fall in the Alastair Gill Gallery in Bristol, England; Edward Bayntun-Coward reports on the DB Lecture by John Morris in January 1996, "Eighteenth Century Scottish Herringbone and Wheel Bindings"; David Sellars reports on Sün Evrard's Lecture in November 1996, "Why, How, For Whom?". Three letters to Trevor Jones written by Edgar Mansfield between 1968 and 1993 are included.
• No. 99, Summer 1997: Minutes of the AGM, April 26; a review of Trevor Jones' lecture given after the AGM, "A Pride of Presidents", on past and present DB presidents and their work; a review by Nesta Davies of Bernard Middleton's DB Lecture on March 4 on his Recollections.
