We report with regret the death in San Francisco of Sheila Fiona Casey at the end of August. Sheila had been a member of the Guild of Book Workers since 1970 and was one of the founding members of the Hand Bookbinders of California. She was a Fine Binder and had studied with and worked with Peter Fahey in San Francisco.

Daniel Kelm has been appointed Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Brown University. During the fall semester he will be teaching a book arts course exploring the narrative qualities inherent in material, structure, surface and enclosure.

Member news from the Potomac Chapter newsletter reports that "On May 9, Bogota native and former Chapter president Martha-Lucia Sierra became a U.S. citizen. Then, she ate a cheeseburger and went out to buy a new car." Our congratulations, also, Martha-Lucia!

On May 26, Nancy Lev married Steve Alexander in Baltimore; Joanne Martinez and Chas Kilgore were married in Hyattsville on August 3.
