Be The 'Queen Bee'
15 1/2 x 6 x 4 1/2 inches closed
2000

The main box is composed of two interconnected chambered boxes with Jacob's Ladder covers. Both the covers and the chambered boxes are double hinged and open from either side. Segments of images appear and disappear. The piece shows women rising above the ruins and emerging from the background. Though women's accomplishments are often hidden or not acknowledged, the 'queen bee' is a symbol of strength, and holds the ultimate position of power. Materials used are paper, board, cloth, cord, wire, ribbon, beads, photos, photocopies and felt.
