Long stitch binding in a black and white paper case with a red, painted title. Chaos of unfolding pages simulate a loss of control, and contain humorous quotes of fears and phobias surrounding the anxieties of flying and confinement. Hand lettered text and collage. Matching clamshell box.

NANCY PALLATHENA has been a public-school educator and weekend artist for forty years. Introduced to handmade book structures by Kitty Maryatt, she has pursued book arts classes ever since. Journal making was fun, but she longed for content, which has led her to the creation of book works from the text, hand lettering and collage to the binding.
