Thomaston, ME

Misery
by Stephen King
9 5/16 x 6 1/2 x 1 3/8 inches
2000

Smooth spine, tight joint book sewn on five recessed cords. Covered in two grey goatskins, one flesh-side out. The doorway scene on front board, of binders board, papers, and leather onlays, and the onlay on back board are in reference to the story. Grey and red marbled endpapers with leather hinges. The endbands are worked in grey and red silks. Top edge is trimmed, colored with graphite over red gouache, and spatters of both on the foredge.

"This binding was made as for an author-client, so some aspects are different from what would be done on a purely design binding."
