The Guild has been busy over the past few years bringing our organization up to date with new technologies, not in how we make books and the allied arts but how we reach out to our members and the book arts community. Members will recognize an updated website, online registration for our annual conference, and a presence on Facebook and Twitter with announcements about our activities and opportunities.
Now we’re rounding out our embrace of technology with this blog by members and for everyone interested in thinking about and making books. We will be posting occasional articles on how we make things, what’s new in the field, and to talk about what is going on around the country. We’ll be presenting new information as well as digging up some articles from past newsletters and journals that we’d like to remember.
We’re glad to include as some of our first posts some excerpts from our recently published 2009 Journal. The hard copies (yes, we still publish things on paper) will be in our members mailboxes soon and you’ll get a sense of what we’re talking about.
Check in when you can, suggest a topic or ask a question, we’ll try our best to offer at least one answer, if not more.
Best regards,
Andrew Huot, President-Elect
Guild of Book Workers
