Adhesive Pre-coated Repair Materials Workshop

Instructor: Sarah Reidell | Cost: $250 GBW members; $300 non-members

Conservator Sarah Reidell will teach this two-day conservation workshop on preparing and using pre-coated repair materials for library and archival conservation. Workshop includes short lecture presentations; an overview of selection criteria; instructor-led demonstrations; discovery exercises; and group discussion to share experimental results and evaluate findings. Attendees collaborate closely to share working methods and tips while creating comparative samples on surrogate objects (their own or provided by instructor). Limit 10 attendees.

This conservation workshop is presented by The New England Guild of Bookworkers, in collaboration with the Dartmouth College Library Preservation Services.

Sarah is the Associate Conservator for Rare Books and Paper at The New York Public Library. Before coming to the NYPL in 2006, she was a Conservator for Special Collections in the Harvard University Library's Weissman Preservation Center and an Andrew W. Mellon Advanced Fellow at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) in Philadelphia. She holds an MLIS/CAS in Conservation and Preservation of Library and Archival Materials from the University of Texas and an AB in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College. An active Professional Associate member of AIC, Sarah currently serves as the BPG Publications Committee Chair.
