Positions Up for Election

Additionally, a new board position is being added to assist with fund raising and promotion efforts for the Guild. The following is a general job description for the new Development Chair position. This description has not yet been finalized, so it may be changed or amended. An official job description will follow when available.

The Development Chair is a voting position on the Guild of Book Workers Board, which meets bi-monthly to coordinate the Guild’s functions, member services, and activities. The Development Chair will pursue and develop relationships with companies, grant organizations, and other fundraising groups in order to best create relationships between those organizations and the Guild. Some activities will be to develop advertising via publications including exhibition catalogs, newsletters from other organizations, art/conference events, etc.  They will also assist in promotional efforts and find ways of selling/distributing Guild publications (such as the Journal and exhibition catalogs) as a way to increase membership and improve the visibility of the organization.

The Development Chair may recruit other committee members, as needed. Although this is a position on the national level, the Development Chair may help the ten regional chapters with their development needs as time permits.

This position is part of the Corporation’s Board of Directors and will be requested to participate in phone meetings quarterly and the Annual meetings during the Standards Meetings.  This position will be elected for two year terms with no term limit.  A stipend is paid quarterly.
