Anna Embree
Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Anna Embree is an Associate Professor for the MFA in the Book Arts Program in the School of Library and Information Studies at The University of Alabama. She teaches courses and workshops in bookbinding, box making, and special topics in book preservation and book history. Anna has a strong interest in the physical and material aspects of book structures. She has collaborated with printers and papermakers on limited edition handmade books, and has exhibited widely. In 1976 Steve Miller founded Red Ozier Press in Madison, Wisconsin, a fine press devoted to publishing handmade limited edition books of contemporary poetics and art. In 1979 he and Ken Botnick joined forces at Red Ozier in New York City. Miller moved to Tuscaloosa and The University of Alabama in 1988 to teach letterpress printing and hand papermaking. He is Professor and Coordinator of the MFA in the Book Arts Program. His current Red Hydra Press work includes ongoing collaborative book projects with Cuban print and papermakers.

Twelve Fables is a book of fables by Rodney Jones accompanied by ten bird nests by Dana Moore. Book designed and letterpress printed by Steve Miller. Binding design by Anna Embree. Printed on dampened Arches Text paper and signed by both author and artist. Fifty-five copies. Semi limp binding.
Khadi Indian handmade paper and 2-ply museum board; Arches text paper and linen thread.
