Monique Lallier
Summerfield, North Carolina
Monique Lallier started her career in Montreal where she studied bookbinding with Simone B. Roy. She also studied with Hugo Peller and Edwin Heim in Switzerland, and Roger Arnoult in Paris. She served as director of the American Academy of Bookbinding for five years. Monique is also a former chair of the Standards of Excellence, serving from 1988 to 2000. She currently teaches at AAB in Telluride and in her studio in Summerfield. She has been a member of the Grolier Club since 2002. Monique has exhibited worldwide and her bindings are in private collections and institutions in the US, England, Canada, Japan, and Europe. In 2008, The Guild of Bookworkers gave Monique the Laura Young award for her service to the Guild.

Full leather French technique with horse leather cover over black calf leather. The cover consists of onlays. The design is the representation of the big lips of every character in the book. Edge-to-edge doublure and flyleaves with horse leather. Dry point by Christiane Alanore. Copy 195/225.
