In-Between
This book is the formation of a variety of ground plant and insect liquors soaked for weeks and their reaction to one another. Lard coats the pages, and images are created with needle piercings and some ink stone rubbing. The pages are Tableau wet strength paper. This unique binding is an accordion fold of handmade paper; the chemise is of Iowa paper.
13 x 19.75 inches. 33 x 50 centimeters. Created 2018.

DENISE CARBONE was born in 1957 in Camden, New Jersey. She graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Glassboro State College, where she concentrated in printmaking and papermaking. She received her MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking in 1992 at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Since then she has been printing and binding books for herself and others. Denise's studio, where many unusual experiments happen, is in South Jersey. She shows periodically, and has books and prints in both private and public collections.
