Study for the Possibility of Hope, 2010

In Study for the Possibility of Hope, poet Dennis Phillips embarks on a speculative and finally optimistic version of the pastoral, examining our place in the natural world. The images of native California plants and the San Gabriel Mountains on the cover and three gatefold spreads connect to the view where the poems were conceived. The book was letterpress printed from Goudy Old Style and Futura light wood type and polymer plates on Somerset Book Wove paper. The binding is sewn through the spine. The edition was designed, printed, and bound by Rebecca Chamlee at Pie In The Sky Press.
