00110001 00100000 00110100 1&4, 2012
What is gained and what is lost in our digital world? Freedom, security, identity? The 1st and 4th Amendments to the Constitution seem the most challenged today. The text in the coptic-bound, 1&4 includes those amendments, words by Jefferson and Holmes, and poems by Whitman and Longfellow. Passages of binary code are written in gold on black like the glow of a computer screen. Other words and code are black on black to represent all we don't know about our loss of privacy and freedom. The poetry speaks to the hope for our country.
Dimensions: 9.75 x 7.75 x 2 inches; 25 x 19.5 x 5 centimeters
