Claire Van Vliet founded the Janus Press in 1955 and has published over one hundred books with original artwork of her own and other artists. She was elected to the National Academy in 1995 for her printmaking. The Library of Congress holds the design archive of the press.

This is a leporello structure of six images that can be viewed in numerous ways. Claire Van Vliet made the vitreographs at Littleton Studio in North Carolina and the pulp painting was made with Katie MacGregor in the Janus paper studio.
