Open Horizons , 2012
This book was sewn on linen tapes with laced-on boards and hand sewn silk endbands. Edges are sponge painted with brown and tan, and endpapers are tan Canson Ingres paper. Using one of the illustrations in the book as my inspiration, I recreated the lake scene with painted areas and back pared onlays of calf and goatskin with some detailing of the branches done with blind tooling.
Dimensions: 8 x 5.5 x 1 inches; 20.5 x 14 x 2.5 centimeters
Open Horizons by Sigurd F. Olson was published in 1969.
