42nd Parallel, 2012

Stand in one spot and the horizon seems permanent. But take a road trip across the US and the horizon changes shape as you cross plains, mountains, and rivers. Travel over millennia and the line of the horizon radically shifts as glaciers melt, mountains move, seas rise and fall. We are born, we live, we die. Cities come and go. Everything is impermanent, but still what came before leaves its imprint. This book traces the line of the horizon along the 42nd Parallel, from California to Massachusetts, recording a fleeting moment in time.
