Epsilon Reader, 2012

With so many new methods available for the dissemination of information, there is continuing speculation regarding the future of the printed book. Here, the “horizon” is one of time and technology. This structure is meant to resemble the characteristics of ancient books. The decorative pattern on the cover disappears over the horizon, and the missing area is sketched in. The resulting pattern resembles an electronic schematic. When handled, it is quickly apparent that this is actually a box and an easy shake toward the fore edge reveals a drawer. When the drawer cover is flipped down, a compartment for an e-reader is found.

Dimensions: 6 x 9 x 1.5 inches; 15 x 23 x 4 centimeters
