Invisible Distance, 2012
My five stanza poem, Invisible Distance, begins: I am snowbound today / Waiting for a visible horizon / To appear from the great / Vaporous Circle. The book is in praise of artists. Those who start off in a cloud of unknowing, have faith that there is a horizon to reach for and go forward to meet it. The translucent materials, an increasing use of color as the pages advance, the Japanese binding and the symbolic glove allude to this optimism and fragility. There is only the hand of the artist- touching.
Dimensions: 6 x 11 inches, 15.25 x 28 centimeters
Frosted plexiglass, letterpress printed on paper by Tryst Press Paper Mill, pastel on drafting vellum,Unryu paper, Moriki paper and a glove.
