Walks with Rosie

This book chronicles two weeks of daily walks with my dog in our Philadelphia neighborhood, marking the routes and occurrences on the way. The city is reduced to line, shape, and color, and transparent papers reveal the echoes of yesterday and an allusion to tomorrow. Made on translucent paper with ink and acrylic, case bound in a codex format with cloth and paper. 16.5 x 11 x 0.25 inches, 42 x 28 x 0.5 centimeters. Created 2008.

Andrew Huot has been making artists’ books and bookbindings since 1990. His artists’ books deal with abstracting the events of our daily life into line and shape and are exhibited nationally. He has worked in conservation at public and private libraries and is currently in private practice in Philadelphia. He has taught bookbinding, book arts, and conservation workshops at a variety of venues, including Portland State University, the University of the Arts, and the University of Pennsylvania.
