Full leather black long-grain French chagrin with inlay of eggshell on the front cover and inlay of black box calf on the back. The reflection of the full moon
is achieved with palladium tooling and iridescent color. Edge-to-edge doublures of the same leather used counter grain. Iridescent blue endpapers. Blue and
black cloth clamshell box. 8 x 6 x 0.75 inches, 20.5 x 15 x 2 centimeters. Created 2008.
Monique Lallier is the director of the American Academy of Bookbinding and teaches binding classes such as French binding and box making. An internationally
recognized bookbinder and book artist, her years of experience in the technique of French binding made her an ideal choice for director and instructor
in the AAB’s program based on French bookbinding technique. She began her studies in the 1960s in Montreal at Cotnoir Cappone School of Fashion and L‘art
de la Reliure bookbinding school with Simone B. Roy, and continued studies in Paris with Roger Arnoult, at Centro del bel libro Ascona with Edwin Heim, and in
Solothurn, Switzerland with Hugo Peller. Her work has been exhibited widely with the Guild and may be found in the collections of McGill University, Montreal;
St. Joseph Oratory in Montreal for Pope Jean-Paul II; Louisiana State University; the University of North Carolina; and many private collections in the USA, Canada,
Europe, and Japan. She served as standards chair for the Guild of Book Workers for twelve years, and practices her craft full time from her studio in
