Pentimento/Marking Time
Images generated and manipulated from 1880’s experiments in physics book. Numbers morphing by putting through physical change into letters forming phrases
and sayings about time. Pages ringed with time sayings. Each image unique. Form and materials chosen and expressed resulting from my association with the concepts
of John Cage’s indeterminacy and interpenetration: so the use of transparency. See all at once or each “page” independently. Book structured with
pages fanned out in order to “read” easily and create a sculptural “round” bookwork. 8.5 x 12 x 5.5 inches, 21.5 x 30.5 x 14 centimeters.
Created 2009.
