Laura Wait Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Volute
One in a series of nine unique books celebrating the spiral, the Fibonacci sequence, and the labyrinthuniversal symbols tracking the annual changes in
the seasons and patterns in nature. The pages are printed with intaglio plates on an etching press, using Rives BFK paper, followed by collographs and woodcuts.
Acrylic paste painting and ink writing completed the pages. The book is bound in the drum leaf style with a calf leather spine stamped on a woodcut,
with paste paper sides made from the collographs from the book. Jill Bergman assisted with the printing, binding, and boxmaking. 13.5 x 6.75 x 0.75 inches,
34.5 x 17 x 2 centimeters. Created 2008.

texture, and occasionally content. She holds a degree in art history from Barnard College, Columbia University, New York, 1975, as well as certificates in
printmaking and bookbinding from the Croydon College of Art, England, awarded in 1976 and 1981. She exhibits her art widely, and her artists’ books are in
