Impressed areas on front and back boards rubbed with graphite and inscribed with graphite. Further finished with black acrylic paint and a wood-burning tool. Chela Metzger started as a librarian interested in historical book structures and artists’ books. After studying at the North Bennet Street School under Mark Esser and at the Library of Congress under Tom Albro, she began a professional life as a full-time book conservator, working with collection care in mind. At this point she teaches book conservation to library and archives conservation graduate students and generally focuses her creative efforts on creating historical models.
